I’m Rita Llavina, a photographer based between Barcelona and Rotterdam. Through my lens I portray human emotion, identity, connection and life. I create portraits and document live performances in film and theater, capturing both the individual essence and the art of storytelling. With a background in theater (Insitut del Teatre, Barcelona) and photography (Willem de Kooning Academy) I approach image-making in a very honest and pure way, moving away from artificial poses and working intuitively with music and movement, creating a comfort space for the model. I am fascinated by the interplay of light and shadow, as well as the role of color in shaping unique atmospheres. In my practice, I also experiment with combining photography—both digital and analog—with writing and painting, blurring the line between photography and fine art.
